Hello Dear Ones. I’m so glad you’ve found your way to my little room on the internet.

We are currently in the belly of the storm in the world of COVID-19. We are experiencing a new reality to our habits and lifestyle. For many of us, our normal daily landscape has been replaced by an unknown and unchartered land.

How can we navigate through this time without getting lost?

How about with a compass and an anchor!

Does your life make you happy_ or, do YOU make your life happ

A compass is used to show you which direction you’re facing so that you can travel in your desired direction. Right now, I’m not sure any of us know where we are headed. I’d like to imagine a different sort of compass. One that points to your personal True North of wellness. When you are traveling in the direction of your True North, you will feel it, in your body. It’ll be a sense of rightness.

True North is not the land of fear, anxiousness, worry, or anger. When you feel those things, it might be a sign you need to adjust your direction a bit. It may only need a subtle shift. And it will look and feel different for every person as we are all gloriously unique. What might help me to shift the needle of my compass to point to my true north, may not be what helps to move yours.

For instance, the noise of the news on TV agitates me and when I pay attention to it for too long, I get really annoyed or even angry about what’s going on in the world. Back when I didn’t have a True North compass, I’d drag out my proverbial soap box, indignantly hop up to rant and vent to whomever would listen to me. This usually accomplished absolutely nothing and helped absolutely no one, including myself.

Too much exposure to the news turns me away from my True North. I now know to greatly limit my news exposure and to turn my attention to something which helps move my needle north. I’ll add to say that zero exposure isn’t always the answer, especially in these times, because then I feel uninformed and perhaps helpless. For me, it’s finding the balance ... working with my compass.

Learn to pay attention and be aware of how your body feels when you are doing certain things. Notice when you don’t feel well and when you do. This might seem simplistic but many people are not in the habit of listening to their own body and feelings. You’ll begin to notice your own pattern of reactions.

It is equally important to notice when you feel right as when you don’t. To be clear, I’m using the term right to mean ‘rightness’, not right or wrong. And I’m also using it instead of good, happy, peaceful, or joyful, because not every action that helps us to keep our needle facing our True North will have all those feel-good-vibes, but it will likely feel RIGHT, in our bodies.

If you stay present and aware, pay attention and take note, mentally or physically, you will eventually know where to focus your attention and what you turn away from that will help you to keep your compass leading you to your True North of personal wellness.

As we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence actually liberates others.

Symbol

An anchor is a tool to help you to stay tethered to a safe home base.

I believe as beings, families, communities, societies, and nations, we aren’t meant to stay stagnant. We are meant to move, travel, explore, learn and evolve. And there will be times when we will need a port in the storm.

It’s so easy to wander off, seek adventure, hop down the bunny trail and get lost along the way. This can happen even while we are all sheltering safe at home. Our journeys in life are more than physical geographical ones. They are relationships with others, conversations, and engagement with the world, even through our computers. Our greatest journey is that which we do inside ourselves, our own inner exploration. Even then, we can get lost, so it’s important to learn how to tune-in, during any experience, and be aware of when we need a shelter of grace.

Discover what makes you feel safe and nurtured. What allows you to take a deep breath and simply be? How and when do you feel settled? When are you essentially on your charging station, on standby in safety mode?

For me, this resembles an acute focus on my breath in a meditative way. I have other ways to put a stake in the ground and stay grounded, but my go-to anchor is that.

Again, begin to notice when you feel able to experience true HOME in your own body. Whatever that looks like for you, let that become your anchor, to keep you tethered to your true self, no matter where your journeys take you.

About Me:

Retreats

One of my favorite things is to host in-person retreats. They offer an opportunity to get away from our normal every day routines and gather in community with like-minded souls in a sacred space

Sometimes exactly what we need is to check out so that we can check in with ourselves again.

While individual retreats may have a slightly different focus, they will all have some things in common. We will start each day with yoga and meditation. (These will be offered on levels appropriate for the group's experience.) There will be collective and individual activities geared toward the needs of the group. We will eat healthy, nourishing foods.

One thing that every single retreat will have is a sacred space to share, to feel safe and secure, and know that you will be respected, honored and loved for who you are.

Collectively our light will shine brighter and brighter as we join together. The world needs this light.

Much love and light from me!

Testimonials

Ginger has an inspiring mix of grounding, stable energy with a radiant passionate energy that lights up every room she enters.

She intuitively knows how to teach people based on their needs in the moment. From running a CrossFit gym and leading intense workouts to offering some of the most healing Yin + Yoga Nidra classes I've ever experienced she is able to create the energy that is most needed in the moment effortlessly. Ginger is determined, sweet, and balanced, and I am so grateful to have her in my life as friend and teacher.

Ginger is an amazing trainer.  Whether working with her in the CrossFit Gym or the quiet space of a yoga mat, she always brings just the right energy to the work.

Most importantly, she has a way of making you feel safe.  Hanging from a bar--I knew she was right there.  Lying on a mat during a guided meditation--her voice created a safe space to let go.  But when you add her energy healing into the picture, you really have something rare and special.  I have driven over an hour just to spend the few minutes with her healing touch during savasana at the end of a yoga class.  Personal trainer, nutritional guide, yogi, Reiki healer . . . I just love her.  I would train with her any where and trust her with my hardest spiritual journey.  Namaste Ginger.  You are a light in this world and my life.

Ginger offers an inviting and warm presence.  Her voice and nature are soothing and welcoming as she creates a safe place for healing.

During my reiki session, with her guidance I was able to settle into a deep space of stillness to offer myself the ability to receive more openly and reach the highest benefits possible.  Her reassurance of my own self-acceptance during my yoga practice allowed me to soften into the process and release limiting beliefs around my practice.  Ginger leads from her heart, she has a tender nurturing about her and offers a beautiful gift to those around her.  I am grateful for our time together and would recommend her to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of themselves in a safe, gentle exploration.

I had the pleasure of spending an entire month in my yoga teacher training with the beautiful Ginger Calem.
Her energy from my very first introduction was loving and nurturing. Ginger has a calmness that she brings into each of her classes that make you feel welcome, no matter what level your practice is. She is both encouraging and articulate with her words and leaves you with the feeling of complete bliss. If I lived in her town I wouldn’t miss a single class.
